Eighteen

You expect eighteen to feel very, very, different -- to wake up and feel eighteen tingling in your toes, or curled in the curve of your ear, in the way you yawn and roll over to look at the clock, but eighteen is probably the most normal birthday I've ever experienced. Sometimes I try eighteen on for size. I look at a picture of myself and think, "this girl is eighteen," or look down at my fancy shoes and say, "those feet are eighteen." I try to wrap my head around my appearance, to remember how I used to see eighteen year olds, and try to imagine people seeing me that way.
