I would like to begin by saying that this is the best stuff you will ever put in your mouth:

I mean, hello? Cold mangos? Smooth Haagen-Dazs texture? ARE YOU LISTENING? Do your tongue a favor.

In other news, started a job last night at a local pizza kitchen as a hostess. It's in an upscale neighborhood, so the interior is warm and chic and industrial. In other words, it's where rich young couples bring their misbehaved kids. The pizza's not bad, but not my favorite -- Davenports still wins -- but that doesn't mean I don't eat it after I close out the register when Will, one of the cooks, hollers from the kitchen that the pizza's ready. I'm "Red," which means I get topping priority (or at least last night I did): Italian sausage, black olives, and mushroom. I'm sure this won't last; my new-girl charm is bound to wear off soon. But I don't work again until after I get back from France.

I'm most appreciative, I think, of the fact that the soundtrack doesn't suck. After working at Jean Rene's with only a few good tracks of French jazz (Django, "La Vie en Rose," etc.), I know what it's like to suffer a bad soundtrack. But last night's shift was great. Ben Kweller, Coldplay, Norah Jones, and more Beatles than I would have expected. I, for one, couldn't be happier.

All of last night's money is already gone. I didn't make that much, seeing as it was a Sunday, so it wasn't that hard. I got a UV filter for my camera (a regular one -- not a polarizer) and a cover for my LCD screen. Haven't stuck it on yet -- it's one of those weird filmy ones that you measure and cut and stick on; it's like getting a window job for your camera.

So there you have it: mango sorbet, new job, cameracameracamera, and oh yes -- FRANCE IN FIVE DAYS.
